Obsidian Tank w/out Prof.
Hello.
I'm trying to run an obsidian flesh tank for EoN HM Dungeons(slavers exile mostly) and I dont have Profecies. I have NF, Factions, and North(all title tracks at least rank 4 for special skills).
For equipment I have a Caster Modded sword(+5 energy, +20% enchantments, zealous hilt)/Earth Focus( +health 45while enchanted and -2dmg while enchanted). I normally roll w/ zealous sword +30 health, +15dmg^50% and a Str shield +30hp, -5dmg(20%). So I can switch between during runs if need be.
Skills I've selected are StoneFlesh Aura, Obsidian flesh, Sliver armor, Stamina Sig, Endure Pain, Glyph of lesser energy, Ward against Foes, and frenzied Defense.
My armor is max w/ +1 +1 sword, +1 strength, Sup. Vigor, Sup. Absorbtion, and pretty much all survivor or Vitale runes to take up rest of spots. I figure to get an extra helm/gloves to switch +1 +1 to strength and maybe an Energy rune strictly for the Obs. build.
Havent tried it out...a little scared to group up and make myself look stupid. Not sure of hero combo to try it out with.
Any suggestions from the community would be appreciated.

Drop Sliver Armor and Frenzied Defense.
Here's a nice OF tank build that will get you accepted into most PuGs.
[skill]obsidian flesh[/skill][skill]stoneflesh aura[/skill][skill]glyph of concentration[/skill][skill]ward against foes[/skill][skill]endure pain[/skill][skill]signet of stamina[/skill][skill]armor of earth[/skill][skill]dolyak signet[/skill]
PS, icon on armor of earth is wrong.

If you're going with Heroes, run Dragon Slash with "Save yourselves!"
much stronger build, makes the party invincible and you still kill things.

Just make sure there aren't any casters around that will own you with no Obsidian Flesh and you'll be fine.

Most of us don't suck enough to need Ob Flesh and not die.

I'll keep the extra 260 health, and spell immunity versus getting keeled over by armor ignoring spells you'll find in many EoTN dungons. Thanks.

Because all monks are actually skilled enough to heal you and not break your agro, or heal you period. Many PuG monks will just stand around and let you die, or run way too close, and break the agro you have.
Don't take risks. Run OF unless you're running with trusted guildies.

Or go H/H and dont fail. LoD is uber, WoH too. Funny thing, I NEVER used tank in PuG. I tried to in Tombs, but it was worse (of course H/H, I was tanking) than B/P.

Is anyone else noticing that there's an abnormal amount of fail being posted lately? Seems like there's a "yeah whatever, tanks are awesome, noob" post in every thread.

Anyway, more on topic... this is probably the build you're looking for, OP. But as Alex said, run a good build if your teammates will let you. Heroes are better.

If kittens weren't so cute, I'd be kicking them.

alex is just right
tank = draw all attacks on a heavily armored person, to prevent the casters from being pound to death in 2 hits
save yourselves = +100 armor on all other party members. this will result in ~85% damage reduction. Actually making the warrior the one with the worst defense ..
No need for holding aggro, thus making the run safer (and faster)

Yes they are.

Then use heroes, or henchmen monks. Mhenlo and Lina are good enough, Dunkoro and Tahlkora are better than most humans.

I'm still unsure how putting armor on everyone who isn't even supposed to be taking damage anyway beats spell immunity + health?

You have to tank-n-spank perfectly every group or you wipe everytime, and it's slow. Also, using warriors to not deal damage when they dealing the highest damage in the game sounds like a bad idea.

That, and when everyone else suddenly has godly AL, all the baddies will come after you. You're a tank again, but a useful one.
